We The Resolved is a blog dedicated to preserving and advancing the founding principles of the United States of America. These principles, to quote the Declaration of Independence “...all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…” became the foundation of a new nation. A nation unlike any other before it. It was believed to be impossible to create, let alone succeed for any duration of time. One of the founders, George Washington referred to it as ‘The Great Experiment”. The birth of this new nation was one of only a few events throughout the course of history which resulted in an advance in humanity’s spiritual evolution.
It started when a group of oppressed people united and stood up against their King declaring themselves an independent nation. This Declaration of Independence launched a revolution in which people from all walks of life fought side by side against the world’s greatest military power. The Declaration was fortified by a constitution which provided the framework creating history’s first legally defined and protected free individual. The constitution also established the first government whose power was limited and granted from the consent of the people. A nation of the people, for the people by the people was born.
The nation continues to thrive and serve as a beacon for all humanity. Many have criticized and attacked the nation since its inception. The attacks come from other nations as well as critics from within. A movement to change the nation’s very history in order to demonize and discredit the people of yesterday based on ideals that ignore the true history of mankind is terribly wrong and results in continued stagnation of people evolving as human beings.
The idea of the individual existed only in the writings of philosophers and poets. There was no true freedom. An individual was nothing but a subject forced to bow to their mighty leaders Any rights afforded to the individual could be removed at the whims of their Kings, Queens, Czars, Emperors, Shahs or whatever power was in place in that time and location. .
When studying the history of mankind one must begin with the question, ‘When?” When was man ever kind? true history of mankind never included anytime or any place where man was actually kind. The United States was the first nation to successfully stand up against a King and his mighty military and declare that the People should be afforded the rights to be free individuals. And the government and the politicians should be controlled and checked. In order for such a nation to exist the individual is provided responsibility with their freedoms. This responsibility includes the resolve to better themselves as individuals, and to be involved within their communities, their places of worship and their local and federal governments. For a nation of the People must rely upon the resolve of the People in order to survive. Abraham Lincoln said it the best in his Gettysburg Address when he stated
“...we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
It is imperative today for We the People to be We the Resolved. We face many challenges as a nation today. Most of which could not have possibly been conceived by the Founding Fathers. We must trust the system of government they created and rely upon ourselves for We the People, We the Resolved must continue to work united together to create a better tomorrow for our children and future generations.
